Malnutrition among pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, as well as infants, is a growing crisis. In Northern Gaza, 1 in 6 children is acutely malnourished, with around 3% suffering the most severe form of wasting and in urgent need of treatment, according to UNICEF. Breastfeeding rates have fallen in recent years due to food insecurity and the lack of lactation support. As a result, many infants depend on formula, a lifeline that is often unaffordable or unavailable.
